On Sunday, my boyfriend and I will be flying to Hamburg for one week to visit family and friends. As you know from my post on minimalist packing for Rome, I prefer to travel with hand luggage only. This is generally not difficult if you remember to focus on the things you really need.
As it's obviously going to be colder than here, we will have to pack warmer clothes which take up more space. I have, in fact, managed to fit all clothes I want to bring into my suitcase which is cabin luggage size. The key is to prepare for wearing layers. I can bring shorts and skirts instead of long and heavy pants if I wear tights underneath which take up a lot less space.
I have packed the following items so far:
1 pair of shorts
1 pair of tights (For now. I will see if I can get another good one here, but I'm already looking forward to buying a few decent pairs in Hamburg, as it's quite difficult to find nice and warm tights here in Athens.)
2 sets of sleepwear
7 pairs of underwear
Feminine hygiene products
Gifts for family and friends
On Sunday morning, I will need to pack additional items, such as cosmetics. I plan to keep it extemely minimal with regards to makeup in order to save space (and time while getting ready in the morning).
I will pack the following items shortly before leaving, but this list is bound to change according to my mood:
Concealer and brush
Lipstick (which can also be used as blush)
Contact lens solution
Contact lens case
I'll decide what to wear on the flight as Sunday approaches, but it's usually a good idea to wear additional layers to be able to bring more things. That way it will be possible to bring another cardigan, sunglasses, and jewelry.
I'm still debating whether I should bring a swimsuit in case we decide to go to the hamam or anything similar.
Do you find it easy to pack light when you travel?
