As I mentioned previously, I won several items in the TopVintage summer giveaway, among them two accessories. And one of the accessories I won was this super cute hairband from Be Bop a Hairbands.
One side features a green/white gingham design. And the other side is pink with several different fruits on it (watermelons, pears, lemons, oranges, and grapes). It’s really summery, and I loved wearing it to accessorize updos in the hot weather here in Athens. The fruity side will be less suitable now that summer is slowly fading away. But I will manage to get some wear out of the hairband’s gingham side. I’m not usually a fan of green, but it will help to brighten up black outfits.
The material of the hairband is 100% cotton and very thick to protect the wire inside. But I am a bit unsure about washing it worrying that the metal wire inside might get rusty. If anyone has any experience with that or tips please leave a comment below.
About Be Bop a Hairbands
Be Bop a Hairbands are handmade in England by the owner Niki Murphy herself. So that means no slave labor, and that’s a big concern for me. The hairbands come with a wire and two distinct sides. What I love is that Niki takes inspiration from the 1950s with some really lovely designs for children and adults. She also makes turbans, neck scarves, and clothes.
I’ve never found it easy to get bandanas to stay in position. It’s much easier with the wire running through this hairband as you can simply twist the ends around each other. You don’t actually have to tie a knot or bow. This is a really cute accessory I would have missed out on had I not won it in a giveaway.
