I had mentioned in my holiday wish list that I wanted to get a pair of Oxfords from Golden Ponies. As it turned out, my mother got me two pairs for my birthday: the pink pair I mentioned in the other post, and the brown and beige pair I'm going to talk about in this post.
The big appeal of these shoes for me was first of all that they are not made of leather. It can be difficult to find shoes for me. While non-leather shoes are not difficult to find most of them are made cheaply by exploited workers in Asia. However, all Golden Ponies items are handmade by artisans in Mexico so purchasing from Golden Ponies actually supports local artisans instead of giving money to the fast fashion industry.
Now that spring started, I have been wearing these shoes every day, and they’re honestly some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They’re incredibly lightweight and very soft, absolutely perfect for the current weather in Athens. The easiest thing is to pair them with a pair of jeans, but they would look good even with a skirt, a dress, or a pair of shorts, optionally with tights.
Unfortunately, the streets here in Athens are in really poor condition which has had a bit of a negative effects on the shoes already. On normal streets they're a real pleasure to walk though.
